چکیده
Point defects, dislocations, grain boundaries and interfaces are always involved in ceramic microstructures play important roles for physical chemical properties of ceramics. Currently, proper control these crystal defects is inevitable to tailor materials with superior properties. This article reviews recent research projects on distinct phenomena ceramics due defects. In particular, we would like emphasize importance central core regions namely, “crystal defect cores”. They have specific electronic atomic structures that different from those bulk. Recent advances nanoscale characterizations theoretical calculations make it possible acquire a variety quantitative data enclosed at the crystal-defect cores, which gives clear understanding various levels.

Smectic pores and defect cores.
Riemann's minimal surfaces, a one-parameter family of minimal surfaces, describe a bicontinuous lamellar system with pores connecting alternating layers. We demonstrate explicitly that Riemann's minimal surfaces are composed of a nonlinear sum of two oppositely handed helicoids.
متن کاملComment on "structure of smectic defect cores: X-ray study of 8CB liquid crystal ultrathin films".
We study the structure of very thin liquid crystal films frustrated by antagonistic anchorings in the smectic phase. In a cylindrical geometry, the structure is dominated by the defects for film thicknesses smaller than 150 nm and the detailed topology of the defects' cores can be revealed by x-ray diffraction. They appear to be split in half tube-shaped rotating grain boundaries (RGB). We dete...
متن کاملA Comparative Evaluation of Shear Bond Strength of Creation Ceramic Veneer to Metal and Zirconia Cores
Abstract Background and Aim: High chipping rates of the veneering porcelain of zirconia ceramic restorations have been reported in clinical studies. Thus, the shear bond strength (SBS) between the zirconia core and veneering porcelain requires investigation. Materials and Methods: In this in-vitro study, at first, using a computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) machine, 1...
متن کاملShape defect detection in ferrite cores
In the framework of a European technological research project 2], a general method is presented for shape measurement and defect detection of industrially produced objects using the characteristic 2D projections of the objects. The method is applied to the visual inspection and dimensional measurement of ferrite cores. An optical shape gauge system is described, based on rotation-invariant shap...
متن کاملDetermination of cristobalite phase content in ceramic cores using various X-ray quantitative phase analysis methods
The aim of this research is to investigate different X-ray based quantitative phase analysis methods for determination of cristobalite phase content in ceramic cores. For this purpose, four popular routes including peak absolute intensity method, relative intensity ratio method, direct or calibration method and internal standard (or Alexander-Klug) method have been chosen. Some control samples ...
